Earbus Foundation of WA and Australian Hearing made what they hope will be the first of many joint clinical visits starting at Yandeyarra community in the Pilbara in late-October. Adam and audiologist Geraldine from Australian Hearing joined Earbus Foundation’s Dee Parker in screening, treating and fitting hearing devices for Aboriginal children from this small Pilbara community. By sharing information and results EFWA and AH can streamline the screening and treatment process, avoid duplication and make the most efficient use of available resources. The combined visit also makes the best use of time and allows children to access both clinical teams in the same place in each visit. Dee Parker, who has been working with and visiting this community since 2011, called it “one of the most satisfying days of my professional life” as she watched children hear clearly for the first time thanks to AH’s free assistive devices. Australian Hearing is the Australian Government’s national provider of hearing and audiology services.
