Earbus Foundation Wins Newborn Screening Contract

Earbus Foundation is delighted and excited to announce it has been successful in tendering for WA Health Department’s newborn hearing screening contract in private maternity hospitals. The Foundation will take over service delivery commencing 1 October 2015. Newborn hearing screening detects babies born with a hearing loss from as early as 6 hours post-delivery and allows for early referral for diagnostic testing. Babies who are detected and diagnosed early have the best chance of benefitting from early intervention. The private screening program was the initiative of Earbus Foundation CEO Paul Higginbotham when the first program was introduced at the then Mercy Hospital in Mt Lawley in January 2005. “I am very pleased to again be involved in delivering newborn hearing screening for babies” said Mr Higginbotham. “We look forward to working in partnership with each of the private hospitals to deliver a gold standard service. Our team will bring experience, genuine expertise and passion to this new Earbus service ”
