Ear disease has been routine childhood experience for generations of Aboriginal children - parents are often not shocked by runny noses and pouring ears, having experienced them themselves as children. This “normalisation” of ear disease is a sad legacy that contributes to unacceptably high rates of infection and disease, and lack of timely treatment.
