Meet Bonnesha Smith

My name is Bonnesha Smith. I'm 21 years old. I grew up in a little town called Moora, about 2 hours north of Perth. I'm a proud Yued women and I have one sibling, a brother. I moved to Perth because there are more employment opportunities than in Moora. I've always been passionate about community services and helping my culture. I've always wanted a job in this sector. After a few different jobs this past year I'm really happy to be at Earbus. The team has made me feel most welcome and I'm excited to take on the challenges of my new role.

Ear disease has been routine childhood experience for generations of Aboriginal children - parents are often not shocked by runny noses and pouring ears, having experienced them themselves as children. This “normalisation” of ear disease is a sad legacy that contributes to unacceptably high rates of infection and disease, and lack of timely treatment.

Oversee the financial and HR activities of Earbus Foundation. Responsible for the accounting functions required to provide accurate and timely information on the financial status of Earbus to CEO. Organise and further develop the financial processes, manage the small finance team, provide direction and training as required. Oversee Human Resources activity. Co-ordinate staff recruitment and induction, facilitate on-gong staff training and report on general staff well-being. Oversee IT systems as managed by our external IT provider.
